Lip Blush colour shouldn’t be chosen in the same way you would choose a lipstick.Your natural lip colour, undertone and skin tone all influence how a pigment will heal, so at K.CO pigments are custom mixed specifically for you rather than selected from a standard shade.Your personal preference is just as important. Whether you prefer something barely noticeable or a richer, more defined colour, the mix is adjusted to complement what you naturally have and create a healed result that blends naturally with your lips and skin.Long-term fading is also considered when selecting and mixing your colour.

Sensitivity varies from person to person, but most clients find Lip Blush very manageable. Some clients even fall asleep during the treatment.To make the appointment as comfortable as possible, I recommend that all clients purchase a compounded topical anaesthetic before their appointment. Yes. Natural looking results are a key focus at K.CO.Your Lip Blush is designed to work with your natural lips and features rather than look like colour sitting on top of them. You can choose anything from a very subtle tint to something richer and more defined — the aim is for the healed result to still look balanced and right for you.The colour will appear brighter immediately after treatment and soften considerably as it heals.

In some cases, a very small amount of overlining may be possible depending on your natural lip anatomy and where the lip tissue meets the surrounding skin. However, I generally don’t recommend tattooing significantly beyond the natural lip border.Pigment placed on the surrounding skin can heal differently from pigment placed in the lip tissue. If too much colour sits outside the natural lip, it can leave a visible ring or stained-looking edge around the mouth as it ages — which can look very unnatural.If your goal is to make the lips appear fuller, I prefer to use colour placement, balance and subtle adjustments to the design to create the illusion of more volume while still respecting your natural lip structure.Lip Blush can enhance the appearance of fullness, but it cannot physically add volume. If actual volume is your main goal, lip filler may be a better option to discuss with a qualified cosmetic injector.

One thing many people don’t realise is that fading and disappearing are not the same thing.Lip Blush usually softens gradually over time, but the way it ages depends on the pigment, the technique and even the shape that was tattooed. Colour that is implanted too deeply or unevenly can heal patchy or remain much stronger in certain areas, and a lip shape that has been overdrawn can continue to look unnatural long after the treatment itself has faded.That’s why I treat Lip Blush as a long-term decision from the beginning. At K.CO, pigment choice, colour mixing, implantation and lip shape are all considered with the healed and aged result in mind. I prefer to work conservatively with shape and build colour carefully, rather than creating a result that looks impressive only when it is fresh.Some clients retain visible colour for several years, while others choose to refresh it sooner as the result softens.

Yes, but melanin-rich lips need a different approach.I have personal experience with darker lip pigmentation myself. When I first started performing Lip Blush in 2017, the common advice at the time was that melanin-rich lips should not be tattooed. Since then, I have spent years learning, testing techniques on my own lips and treating many clients with naturally darker or unevenly pigmented lips.The existing lip tone and undertone need to be carefully assessed before choosing the pigment. In some cases, the first stage may focus on balancing or neutralising darker tones before working towards the desired colour.Melanin rich lips can also take longer to heal and reveal their final colour, sometimes 12–16 weeks or longer. More than one session may be needed, and I prefer to work gradually rather than trying to force a dramatic colour change in one appointment.The goal is always to work with the natural pigmentation of your lips and create a result that looks balanced, healthy and appropriate for you.

Yes. A touch up is recommended as part of the Lip Blush process.The first session creates the foundation, but everyone heals differently. Some areas may retain more pigment than others, and the final colour can only be properly assessed once the lips have fully healed.Your touch up gives us the opportunity to refine the colour, improve any areas that have healed lighter, and make small adjustments if needed.For most clients, the touch up is booked around 6–8 weeks after the initial treatment. For melanin-rich lips, I usually recommend waiting around 12–16 weeks, as the colour can take considerably longer to fully develop and settle.

Please allow approximately 3 hours for your initial Lip Blush appointment.This includes your consultation, colour selection, lip design and mapping, numbing time, the tattoo treatment itself, and aftercare instructions.I don’t like to rush this process, particularly the colour and shape decisions, so enough time is allowed to make sure everything feels right before we begin.Touch up appointments usually take around 1.5 hours.

The initial healing is usually quite quick. Some clients finish most of the peeling within 2–3 days, and for many, the colour starts to look much more settled by around day 4.After that, the lips can still look slightly dry for another 1–2 weeks while the surface continues to recover.The colour will continue to change as the lips heal, so the result you see in the first few weeks is not the final colour.For most lips, I recommend allowing at least 6 weeks for the colour to settle before your touch up appointment.Melanin　rich lips can take considerably longer to settle. In some cases, the colour may continue developing for 12–16 weeks or even longer before the healed result can be properly assessed.

Yes, but Lip Blush can trigger a cold sore outbreak.If you have ever had a cold sore, I recommend arranging antiviral medication under the guidance of your GP or pharmacist. Full preparation details are included in your booking confirmation email.Even if you have never had a cold sore before, it is possible to carry the herpes simplex virus without knowing it, and Lip Blush can occasionally trigger a first outbreak.Lip Blush cannot be performed if you have an active cold sore. Please wait until the area is fully healed before rescheduling.
